Path: Breathwork Basics MUST be taken before Calming the Mind

Breathing is something each of us do every day – all day – of our natural lives. For millennia, people have been using various breathing techniques to engage the parasympathetic nervous system to counteract the fight-flight-freeze response. This releases toxins and stress, nourishing the mind and body.
 
Sara N. leads this engaging exploratory workshop. She came to breathwork after she was introduced to Pranayama (Yogic breathing). She noticed the profound sense of clarity and calmness which could be obtained relatively quickly and began to see it not just as a spiritual practice, but as a balm to mental distress. For over fifteen years, Sara has been practicing to regulate emotion, enhance focus, and maintain equilibrium. She has taught breathwork to aid in anxiety reduction and relaxation to individuals, as well as through a course she developed and ran for a Community agency in York Region.
 
Course Overview:
In this workshop, participants will learn:

–  the importance of the breath on mental health

–  how the breath impacts our daily life and mood 

–  helpful tips and tricks for everyday breathing 

–  the benefits of breathwork for stress reduction          

Participants will spend most of this workshop learning and practicing three safe, simple breathing techniques which will lay the foundation for more advanced breathwork courses: Calming the mind, which focuses on relaxation; and Energizing the Body, which focuses on invigoration.
 
Participants are asked to wear loose fitting clothing, be on camera and be willing to participate. Though all attendees will receive an exercise sheet after the session; only those who are able to successfully complete the exercises will obtain a certificate.
 
After Breathwork Basics, attendees will be equipped with the foundational knowledge and exercises to enable them to notice their breathing and explore using the breath as part of their stress management routine. Individuals wishing to deepen and enhance their practice can take our Advanced workshops.
 
NOTE: A Breathwork Basics certificate is mandatory for anyone wishing to take our more advanced breathwork courses.
